So I can’t exactly say I’m living the life of an Upper East Sider like in Gossip Girl, in fact I can’t even say I’m capable of uploading glamourous photos of myself dotting all the greatest Australian fashion designers either. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to be able to! Most of the blogs that I religiously follow (probably known as stalking) are of A list celebrities donning designer, one-of-a-kind outfits a girl can only dream of, or of glamour girls around the world who have the bodies of runway supermodels, magazine worthy wardrobes, style to die for and what appears to be unlimited funds.
I don’t know about you but personally, I can’t afford, nor do I have the time to shop for and buy designer labelled clothing for every new occasion on my social calendar. I’m not one to care where I buy my clothing and accessories, if I see it and love it, I’ve got to have it. I have shoes in my closet that I purchased for $3 from the charity store down the road, to the Italian leather boots that cost me a months pay, but would change my life forever with just one wear!
Isn’t it funny how you negotiate with yourself when shopping? If only I had these shoes/ scarf/ earrings/ bag, my life would be perfect. Seriously, I can’t think of an outfit they wouldn’t go with- Of course I will wear these bikinis in winter and I could easily wear these stilettos to the gym (anything just to have them wrapped in tissue paper by the store assistant, put into a gorgeous printed paper bag and handed across the counter into my eager hands!) If I purchase these ridiculously priced, but oh so perfect, pair of jeans/ purse/ gloves I will keep my closet clean forever, in fact I’ll vacuum my house daily, donate more to charities...run a marathon... feed an entire third world country... probably even give my right arm at this point!
So what can you expect from this blog? I don’t really know! It was on my bucket list to create a blog (along with many other adventurous things like walking the Great Wall of China, climbing the Empire State Building, completing my family tree, participating in a flash mob, just to name a few). With the demands of life, my job, my bank account and social commitments, I’m sure as hell not traveling to any of those exotic locations this year, so the blog was the next best thing!
Fashion, food, wine, books, movies, decorating and travel tips (correction: opinions) along with inspirational and motivational quotes, pictures/photos and anything else that grabs my attention, I will share with you!
Blog post #1- Complete!
Love,
Simone.
